I downloaded the SQL server 2016 developer edition, iso file nearly 2.5GB.

When I clicked the setup.exe I got the sqlsetupbootstrapper.dll file missing error, but I can see this file in the same folder as the setup.exe file is.

I checked the resources folder, it has nothing except one sertup.rll file.

Any idea about this error? I did some search, but with no luck.

either map the ISO file as a drive or extract it to a local disk. Then start the installer with local admin permissions to see if it works then.

If you still have an issue, exclude the folder temporary for anti-virus scanner; some block software Installation.

Please download Setup again and use Winzip or Winrar to extract file to local drive. It seems either download was not proper or during extraction from ISO file to drive it got missed.

1. Redownload the installation files for SQL Server.

2. Copy the installation folder in your machine.

3. Launch the setup

Do you find logs related to setup in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Setup Bootstrap\Log
