Follow the on-screen instructions to read the QR code on your smartphone. Please note that methods for reading the code, as well as the entry of authentication keys, may differ depending on your choice of app and smartphone operating system.

When launching the app, a 6-digit number will be displayed. This is your one-time password. When logging in, you will now be prompted to enter your username, password, and a one-time password generated by your app.

Emergency Removal Feature

If you change, upgrade, or lose your smartphone, or if it becomes inoperable for any reason, you will be unable to log into Square Enix account-related services. In this situation, users can make use of the Emergency Removal Password feature to remove the Software Authenticator from their account on their own.

Changing or Upgrading Smartphones

Before changing our upgrading your smartphone, the Software Authenticator must be removed from your account then re-registered using your new device. To remove the Software Authenticator, log into the Square Enix Account Management System and proceed to the One-time Password page. At the bottom of the page, select «Software Authenticator (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.),» then follow the on-screen instructions.

How to confirm your Emergency Removal Password

(1) Log in to the Square Enix Account Management System.

*The Emergency Removal Password is a one-time password that changes after each use. After you have used it, you must log into the Square Enix Account Management System again to obtain your new one-time Emergency Removal Password.

Before you switch phones or delete the application, please be sure to follow the above steps to confirm and store your Emergency Removal Password in a safe place. After you have switched phones or deleted your application, this password will be necessary to perform the Emergency Removal of the Software Token/Software Authenticator registered to your old device.

How to perform an emergency removal of your Software Token/Software Authenticator

■ How to detect fake Square Enix websites:
