Hello, I recently faced a problem with both my operating systems (Windows and Ubuntu) and I decided to format the Hard Disk and before doing that I wanted to back up my data and especially my book marks which contains useful sites. I cannot access any of my operating systems so I am currently using the Live CD to do that but the problem that I am facing right now is that I cannot access the Mozilla fire fox folder on my Ubuntu distro to get my bookmarks and is shown in the following screen shot.

Or open firefox and export the bookmarks to your home folder.

What exactly does the command do because I didn’t experience any changes and please consider that I am currently booting from the Live CD and can’t use the Ubuntu which is installed on my PC

i have same problem, using ubuntu 10.04 live cd i get «The folder contents could not be displayed» using «gksu nautilus» stil can’t open my folder (only get 2 file)
they are:

Hi. I have a dual boot system. I keep Windows 10 on my computer to run Sony Vegas video editor- I can’t find a decent editor for Linux Mint. When I look under ‘Files’ I see the partition where Windows is, and just ignore it. Since the default startup system is Linux Mint I don’t worry about Windows at all. Here’s the snag: I wanted to edit some old VHS tapes I had converted to video files on my computer. So, I booted to Windows 10 to be able to use the Sony Vegas program. When I clicked on the video files to open them the program told me that they wouldn’t open because they were ‘unreadable or corrupt’ (They worked fine three minutes before in Mint).
Here’s where the problem comes in. When I gave up trying to play/edit the video files I rebooted and went back to Linux Mint. Clicking on the drive that held my video files I wanted to edit I got the message «The folder contents could not be displayed.». Under that was.

It won’t even let me open and see the files in a completely separate drive. As I said, they worked fine before. Did just booting into Windows and clicking on that hard drive do something to then make the drive unreadable? Now Windows won’t open the drive with the videos AND Linux Mint won’t open them either. Can anyone help? And if anyone has knowledge of this can they spell out exactly what I have to do to open this drive again, and explain it to me as if I were ten years old? I love Linux and now regret setting up the dual boot with Windows. As I said, this happened just after opening up the files in Windows. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. All my photos and video files are now effectively locked out.
What I want to do is log into report server manager. I have added the user to a job role in SSMS and have equally assigned the user to a specific role in Report Manager (2016). Through a secure host, I can log in with the built-in account but I am unable to log in using the created user account. The error returned is:

To eleborate on STGdb his answer. The settings on the home folder can be found at ‘Manage Folder’:
I had this same issue and had to adjust the permissions on SSRS at the «home» root folder on 2016
I had the same problem. The solution is: 1- Browse the Report Manager URL 2- Top right of the page/ Manage folder/ Add group or user 3- An important point is that in Group or user, you have to insert the name which has been added before in SQL Server Report. You cannot insert your favorable name. It is the point that took me time a lot. 4- After inserting the name, choose the Browser role for that particular name. 5- Go to Home/ Your Project/ Right click/ Manage, then Security, go to Add group or user 6- Do the same as before for this step. 7- Your problem will be solved
[Fixed] This Location Could Not be Displayed – VirtualBox Shared Folder Permission Error
After installing Ubuntu Linux OS on Windows using VirtualBox, if you are getting an error “You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of sf shared folder name” when you try to access the shared folders, let me show you how I fixed this error. Recently I installed Ubuntu 19.04 on Windows 10 by using Oracle VirtualBox. One of the main thing I do is, attaching a shared folder to the virtual machine from the host partition or folder. This makes the data transfer simple between VM and host computer.
After attaching the shared folders and mounted inside the Linux VM, when I tried to open it, I got the error “This location could not be displayed” with “You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of sf shared folder name” error.
What Could be Wrong?
Obviously, it is related to permission of the folder or partition. But is it a permission issue inside the virtual machine or on the host Operating System Windows 10? Since we try to access the Windows folder from Linux, it may be looking for correct permissions. But that should not be the case here. Because we are not making any Windows or NTFS shares between VM and host, it is a VirtualBox shared folder feature that should work straight away without modifying any permission or folder security in Windows 10.
The actual reason resides inside the virtual machine. It is related to the VirtualBox shared folders user group permission in the Linux OS.

Here is the example of the code.
You need to enter the root password to execute the command.
Basically, the above command will add the particular user (mostly the logged-in user) to the vboxsf group which has the permission to access shared folders inside the Linux guest VM.
4. Restart or logoff and login back to take effect.
As you can see, I can access the Windows 10 partition after executing the earlier command.
Hope this guide is useful in fixing the particular error and access the Windows folders and partitions by VirtualBox shared folders features in Linux VM.

I can’t spend an hour every day repairing permissions. It fixes it for the day and the next day it’s back. Catalina is a disaster. So many things were broken. Apple should have made a major warning to upgraders. I can’t work like this. Will have to use my Windows machine.

I can’t spend an hour every day repairing permissions. It fixes it for the day and the next day it’s back. Catalina is a disaster. So many things were broken. Apple should have made a major warning to upgraders. I can’t work like this. Will have to use my Windows machine.
I even tried giving Word full disk access and it doesn’t work
Anyone else have this problem. or even a solution.

Catalina is unstable. A reboot fixes it but it drifts over a half a day and another reboot is required. Folder permissions are broken, «share your ethernet network connection over wifi» is broken, can’t do a recovery disc startup without wifi (I have ethernet at work). not sure what else is broken

Hmm, as previously stated. it helped with a restart of the computer. But that’s what I used to tell my Windows friends as a joke when they had mysterious and unexplainable problems.
