The Gateway Meat
Synopsis
The Gateway Meat is a disturbing and sadistic film, that strays far from the normal conventions of the horror genre. It is about a group of Satanists, living in a quaint, coastal fishing town. As the film progresses we get to know the character played by DeCaro himself, Markus. The film is mainly about how Markus struggles as he tries to deal with the great expectations that are placed on him after his fathers death. Markus’ father, who was a Satanist, was trying to open up a portal into hell. Now that he is gone, Markus must take the reigns, and gain the power that his father wanted. With the help of his family and a couple of friends, Markus murders his way to power, as his young, preschool aged daughter watches.

Final and first feature length entry in Ron DeCaro’s Brightside trilogy, basically just a collection of mean spirited no-budget gore fests. DeCaro mostly does everything himself, from writing, directing and producing, to acting and many of the technical aspects, most interestingly, the special effects. Which I guess kinda are the show stealer here? They’re not great, but then again, not a whole lot is here, this really is like no budget filmmaking.
But I appreciate it. Sucks that the storyline, something with Satan worshipping people trying to open a portal to hell? is very unfocussed. It mostly feels like a bunch of vignettes starring shitty people doing shitty things. This one guy, with a beard, he had a pretty big…
Might have to watch it a few more times to really get what was doing with the narrative. The effects were really where this thing shined. Like holy shit this guy made some grizzly looking stuff to be making a movie with his friends out of his house. I much prefer something like this to stuff like august underground or the vomit gore trilogy. I feel like it gets right what both of those tried to do in their own particulars. Might have helped if i would have watched his other ones for more context. I just kind of put this one on first since this is the one everyone talks about. Regardless of my grasp oj it, i found it entertaining.
Markus’s serene family lifestyle hides a sinister secret. hes a psychopath with an unhealthy interest in his deceased satanist fathers basement.
Some pretty decent homemade gores wasted on its infantile none script. I get they’re video nasties not video nice’ies, but this is just turgid. With its relentless anti Christian vibe and its suspiciously insulting tone towards the disabled.
This is pretty well-done for a no budget movie, but I can’t say I really enjoyed it. The effects are alright, but not very convincing. I do like the music choice and the pacing isn’t terrible.
This is alright for a cheap movie, and I can respect that. Don’t expect much story though. The movie is not that easy to follow, and the acting is pretty bad.
I would only recommend it to people who are interested in filmmaking, since this is just a cheap movie, which isn’t badly made.
Perhaps the most tasteful ultra gore movie I’ve seen. I came close to spewing a few times, but that was from the vodka guzzling 🤪🤢. For a low budget movie, they made the money go further by not really having the most in depth plot. Didn’t need one, though.
Loved the Dubya worship, loved the little girl (reminded me of the skit from Jam with the little girl ‘fixer’). Weird movie that was not as horrible as expected.
«Your corpse, my cock. Calling an appointment.«
If I could sum up most of my experience watching this film in one single expression it would be me throwing my hands up and shrugging.
This no-budget amateur gore flick seems to advertise itself as being «unconventional» when it seems like it’s mostly just really sloppily made. The little there is of a plot is buried in muddled editing, almost incomprehensible storytelling that goes nowhere, and dull pacing. The little bits of potentially interesting story points never amount to anything and instead, the 69 minutes runtime is just a mess of mundane confusion inter-spliced with some over-the-top gore.
The gore effects were fine at best but didn’t do much to save this…
Down the Disturbed Rabbit Hole #17
Just nothing but straight up borderline trash with some few nice shots of the outside scenery and for the technical and artistic aspects but, everything else is nothing but boring as hell and just bad.
This Tuscon,Arizona lensed blood drenched underground horror feature is highly reminscent of the similar film works of Jim VanBebber,Andy Copp,Ron Atkins, and Jorg Buttgerit as THE GATEWAY MEAT depicts the life of a bald, goatee sporting man(Ron DeCaro) who is also a sadistic serial killer whp is eager to widely open the portal of Hell that his satanist father attempted to do,with his drug addicted deranged and homicidal friend(D. Whitney) eagerly egging him on as they undertake a blood spattered murder spree that leaves a gore covered trail around Tucson with DeCaro widely determined to remain a good family man while making sure that the doorway to Hell is widely opened.
This had some great gore effects, and I’d expect no less from the same people who worked on the August Underground trilogy. Still, the acting was terrible and I feel like they could have stretched the whole Satanic plot a lot farther than they did. The movie just ended up being really boring which is a shame because the concept had potential.
Film Review: The Gateway Meat (2009)
SYNOPSIS:
Set in present time, the President has been assassinated and the world is over run with greed. Soon a small, quite town will run red with blood, as a small group of Satanists see this as a sign.
REVIEW:
Gateway Meat with its DVD sleeve and video disclaimer warnings is a film with a purpose. That purpose is shock, awe, and creating disbelief. In this case that statement is a marketing vehicle that comes with the product. While it’s hard for some viewers to believe that there is an audience for this, that audience has never been greater than it is today. Originated largely from early exploitation and underground film fair, the present has spawned a whole new level of brutality and debauchery. Ron DeCaro, the madman behind this sadistic circus of evil has succeeded largely where some try and fail. That victory is wrapped in human flesh, body parts and scenes that will make a goat dig its eyes out. Hell on earth is here and Ron was there to film it.
Gateway Meat, while a premise is not exactly apparent….it does entertain with a mix of humor and shock. Knowing “that” coming into the film makes for a pretty nasty play on gore and lude commenting. The humor though is really subjective in a sick sense than a literal sense. But that humor is brought on by the absurdity of situations with levels of intensity best served to the depraved. The characters are largely undeveloped in the purpose of just keeping them as participants in severe atrocities to better serve the impact. On that notion, we largely lose track of the names, roles and connections these people have. Does it matter? I think for the audiences who purchase this, probably not. So for story seekers… um this is not your playground.
So what to expect? Kidnapping, murder, torture, sexual abuse and a flavor for invention in the execution of all of these things. In one scene a disgruntled boyfriend kills his lover by stabbing her repeatively in the face. Other scenes include shocking segments of aftermath complete with gory carcasses, lots of duct tape, dismemberment and corpse sculpturing.
Yes, there is a little girl who participates on some of this madness however it is apparent from watching this that the scenes were cut in to simulate that on screen rather than subjecting a youngen to indulging into adult intended content using a smattering of gore props and actors.
All of this combined attributes to a daily mix of indulges our actors participate in to their amusement. The reason why?……. is really never asked, instead it’s just accepted as part of there ways to pass the time.
Violence for the sake of violence without pity, remorse of compassion for those who are unlucky to cross there path. The difference GM excels is in the levels to which it is taken. A murder instead of “just” a stab and go is shown as a stab and mutilate complete with facial stabbing’s and corpse abuse. The intro title card suggests a Satanic movement, though really the only sign of that connection is per a wall spray painted pentagram. In due respect this film is far from a devil worshipping picture.
Ron has firmly planted his sadistic masterpiece into underground forums with confidence and cause. If the warnings didn’t scare you off, then what you unveil shouldn’t come as a surprise to adult minded gore hounds. The film is at the moment only available per web site orders HERE. So unless you are seeking it out, you most likely wont come across it.
The Gateway Meat
Gore, Gore and MORE GORE
Once again, Ron has delighted us with another and the final episode of the Brightside Trilogy. This time it’s The Gateway Meat. To give you a little background on Ron and For the Better of Mankind Productions, check out this link here…The White Lie.
The Gateway meat is a little story about a satanic family that is just living their lives, day to day after the fall of their great hero, George W Bush. Living in the small sea side community, little is know about the family other than the look normal on the outside, but of course they are much more complex in private. Dealing with a family lose, the couple (Ron and wife) and their lovely daughter (played by Ron’s real daughter) decide to move back into the fathers house and carry on the family tradition of mutilation, torture, heavy drinking, pillaging and of course raping… everyone they seem to come into contact with.
If you have never seen the other too movies, then you really might not seem to understand who and what is really going on in this one. Like I said, it is the last of the bunch, so those of you that are fans, will love the end. Those of you that are checking out this flick for the first time, then hold on. You will get what’s going on if you have never seen the others, if your stomach can handle it!
Yes, that’s right folks!! GORE!
If anyone can dish out the gore with as much realism and quantity as Ron can, then let me shake their hand! This one is a great film for us underground horror and gore fans like myself and a few twisted others.
One thing I have noticed about Gateway is the way it was shot and the real quality of the movie. Everything looked great as far as the “on screen” aspects. It looks like Ron is shooting with a new camera, better sound equipment, and a more overall professional touch this time around. The movie looks great, with great color and the shots looks like he has learned a thing or two making this one. Everything is top notch, good job bro!
Now I can’t really say too much about this one and what happens in the movie. All I can say is that a lot of questions have been answered with this movie and a lot more have been asked as well. It really gives you a sense of what Ron is trying to say and do. He is a man with a lot on his mind, and has been through some rough times in his life lately, and it definitely shows through his filmmaking. He takes what is in his heart and soul, and portrays it on the big screen to shock and disgust you. Along with getting you to think of everything that is going on in this world. The movie in one sense is a real political wake up call. But also it’s a real “what you see is not always what you get” type of film as well. Not everything is always as good on the inside as what you see on the outside. Ron takes what he holds in his mind and effortlessly displays that to us. It may have taken well over a year for this to get out to us, but it is worth every second. True independent art like The Gateway Meat takes its time, and can take a toll on the filmmaker, but it is something that needs to be said and shown.
I’m sure some people will never be ready for this type of horror and that is all good. I’m not sure if anyone should be ready for this shit, but for those of us that are and have been, then The Gateway Meat is a fitting choice. I’m sure that Ron will get some flack for some of the scenes, “Duct Tape Boy”, “Bathtub Fun”, “Finger Painting” and a few others.
Its filmmaking though, relax its fake!
The Gateway Meat is a fitting end to the Brightside trilogy and it’s a masterpiece of underground horror!!
