Make sure that you’re using a true credit card, not a debit card, and that the card was issued in your country and has a billing address in your country, and that you’re using the iTunes Store of your own country. You cannot use a credit card from another country, a debit card, nor can you use the iTunes Store of another country.

If all that is correct and you’re still having problems, go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

Hi, my problem was solved.

First, you need to check the balance on your bank account.

Then, you need to open the itunes on your laptop and sign in. There, you can see «purchase history». Click on that.

Under the purchase history, you can see the amount you owe to Apple. If your balance is lower than the amount you owe, then you need to top up some money to your bank account.

Make sure the amount you want to top up is higher than the amount you owe.

Then, open your apple id account and click payment information..insert back your debit card info and your billing address. Then, click «Done».

That’s all.. After you complete this step, under payment method you can see «None» option appears. Try this out!

(Sorry for my bad english, hope you can undertand what I want to share)

Fix iOS 15.1 iPhone Says Your Payment Method Was Declined Please Enter Another Payment Method

Last Updated on Sep 24, 2021

I believe that you’re in the middle of the ocean with no idea where to go, this situation truly matches after receiving your payment method was declined error, because you may have used the same card on Amazon or to buy groceries from a local store, but now with iPhone, it isn’t working. It’s hard to evaluate and come to decision, in these cases, where we neither blame the bank nor Apple. If you are the one with the same error, we will help resolve it, as early as possible by guiding you in the right direction.

we are happy to help you, submit this Form, if your solution is not covered in this article.

Unless it gets fixed, you cannot buy the Tracks from Apple Music nor any Applications from the App Store. It’s better to read the article and get rid of the error before you miss out on the ongoing deal with a huge discount.

Your Payment Method Was Declined Error on iPhone

Update Software on Your iPhone

Before taking any hard steps I would highly recommend you to check for the updates and make sure to update to the latest software available for it. Usually, updating the device resolves dozens of issues and software bugs without troubleshooting them.

Restart Your iPhone

It’s good if you’ve updated the iPhone, and I assume the iPhone is rebooted while updating the software. But for those, who are already using the latest software, and couldn’t get the update, do force a reboot. It closes all the background processes for once and completely refreshes the iPhone.

For iPhone 8 or later,

For iPhone 7 and 7Plus,

For iPhone 6S or earlier,

Change/Update Payment Information

Incorrect or incomplete saved payment information on the iPhone won’t complete the payment no matter what product you’re buying. Sometimes, there’s an issue from the Bankside, like they may have blocked your card due to inactivity or it can also be possible you have blocked your card and forgot to unblock it.

If that’s the case, the iPhone won’t complete the payment. Besides, if everything is set up, you don’t see any errors from your side, with the saved payment information, then update or change the payment information on the iPhone. On the other hand, you could also remove and re-add the same card and see if that works.

What You Should do when iPhone shows Payment Declined Error Message?

Well, to be honest, it’s kind of frustrating while making the purchase of our favorite game or app, and in the end, the iPhone throws the payment declined error for no reason.

However, you should head over to the Apple support about the same, but before doing that make sure you’re on the safe side, meaning, the payment method that was used is active, and all details are correct.

Recheck Card Details, Card details you add are very crucial and need to be specified correctly while adding the Payment Method on the iPhone. Card Number, Expiration Date, Security Code, Phone Number, Billing Address, and other required information should match with the Card, and make sure the billing address including the Zip Code is the same as you’ve given to the bank.

Verify the Name printed on the Card is the same as you’ve entered in the Payment Method.

Check for the transaction limits, issued by the Bank or by you.

Make Sure International Payments are allowed for your Card, for that, you can reach to the Bank and confirm from their side.

Contact the Card issuer and fetch the details why your payment method was declined in App Store or iPhone. They’ve keen eyes on your credit card, how do you use, and where do you use.

Is the same Card working in local stores or any other online store like Amazon, or it is showing error only while using in iPhone? Do verify that too.

The Apple ID Region must match with the region of your payment method (card). If you’ve issued the Card from the United States, then the Apple ID Region must be set to the United States. Visit the Settings app > tap on your name > iTunes & App Store > tap on the Apple ID > View Apple ID > Sign In if asked > Country/Region.

If you’re impatient and can’t wait until the problem resolves, add the alternate payment method and use it to buy what you’re looking for.

To add new payment method, Settings app > tap on your name > Payment & Shipping > Add New Payment Method.

My Correspondence with Apple

+I have been unable to purchase anything via itunes with my master-card debit card.+

+The details are correct, expiry date is in 2012 and I have sufficient funds. I have been to the bank and there is nothing wrong with my card.+

Thank you for contacting iTunes. My name is XXX and I will be very glad to assist you in this regard.

I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been able to make purchases on the iTunes Store with your credit card. I know this is frustrating, and I will try to provide as much information as I can to help you resolve it.

Adrian, the iTunes Store has been unable to verify an authorisation from your credit card company. There are several possible reasons for this: Not Possible, went to the bank, they verified everything is ok, and besides it is a Commonwealth Debit MasterCard, not a credit card

— Your credit card company’s servers may have been busy. Trying again later may resolve the issue. *Not Possible*

— Your card may not have been activated yet. If so, you will need to activate it. NO

— You may need to call your credit card company before the authorisation is approved. *Been Approved for months, I actually bought snow Leopardi with the same card*

— You may need to ensure that you correctly located the credit card’s security code. To see instructions for locating the security code, choose View My Account from the iTunes Store menu, sign in to your account, click Edit Payment Information, and then click the «What is this?» link next to the Security Code field. *YES, I did that*

— You’re billing name or address does not match the address listed on your credit card statement. Any discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation, or capitalisation can cause errors, which might prevent you from purchasing from the iTunes Store. If you moved, or if your zip code changed recently, ask your credit card company to make sure its records are up to date and match exactly what you are entering as you’re billing information. *I checked it, and Renamed it to all possibilities*

Please follow these steps to confirm or update your account information:

1) Go to Apple’s My Info page: http://myinfo.apple.com Done

2) Choose your country and preferred language from the pop-up menus. Done

3) Enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click Log In (or Continue). Done

4) At the My Info Welcome page, click Address Book on the left. Confirm or edit your information. Done

5) Click Phone Numbers on the left. Make sure the area codes and phone numbers are entered correctly in their respective fields. Done

6) Click Save Changes. Done

Once your information is updated, try placing an order on the iTunes Store again. If the iTunes Store still cannot obtain an authorisation for your card, it means that you’re billing information is still incorrect, either with your credit card company or with its verification system, which may be handled by another company. *My details have not changed, therefore, did not need updating in the first place*

Fortunately, you may be able to make iTunes Store purchases with another payment method. For example, if PayPal accepts your credit card, you can use your PayPal account to buy from the iTunes Store. If you need more information about using PayPal on the iTunes Store, please let me know. *No, Paypal takes to long, thank you*

Another option is to purchase iTunes Gift Cards and redeem them into your account. iTunes Gift Cards are available at many retailers, such as book stores, grocery stores, electronics stores, drug stores, and Apple Store retail locations. *It is Christmas*

Your credit card may work on the Apple Store online (the Apple Store and the iTunes Store use different verification systems). If it does, you can buy iTunes Gift Cards and receive them by postal mail. The Apple Store online is located here: *Thank you but this is for Christmas, no i prefer buy email, saving paper and reducing the carbon footprint*

Adrian, When you update you’re billing information, the iTunes Store will place an authorisation hold on your credit card to verify your account information. You might see this authorisation request on your online statement. This is not an actual charge, it is simply a test to confirm that your credit card account is active and has credit available to accommodate transactions. *Is that the 2x$1.00 attempted transactions?*

Authorisation requests are automatically removed from your account by your financial institution. The amount of time it takes to remove authorisation requests varies by financial institution. If you have any questions about the way your financial institution handles authorisation requests, please contact their customer service department. *As Above*

To review the actual charges on your account, here are easy steps to view your Purchase History: *I am aware of this*

1) Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple website at:

Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven’t downloaded.

2) Click this link to launch iTunes and view the Sign In dialog: *I am aware of this*

3) Enter your iTunes Store account name and password. *I am aware of this*

4) Click the Account Info button to proceed. *I am aware of this*

5) On the Account Info screen, click the Purchase History button. *I am aware of this*

Your Purchase History will display your most recent purchases first. To view details of any purchase, click the arrow to the left of the order date. *I am aware of this*

Tried everything above, does not work.

Imputed my Dad’s debit card in, did not work either, went to revert back to my debit card, now it is saying the security code is wrong which is total bull. I have rung up apple and the bank, and I also have driven to the bank.

Question: Q: Error Message «Payment method was declined»

It just happened recently. I couldnt buy music in itunes, buying a paid apps, buying in-game purchase all because my iphone requests an update on my billing information. I updated the required field with my debit card and this error message appeared instead:

«your payment method was declined. To make this purchase, provide a new payment method for your Apple ID»

I tried everything I could which includes: Sign out from apps store, sign out from my apple id, restarting my iphones several times. Not only that, I called BIBD call centre and I did what they suggested and it still wont work. I double check my debit card and all the information that I included in the biling information was correct. I am using a Brunei apple ID account to connect to apps store.

So Im kinda stuck. I would gladly appreciate some help to tackle around this issue. Thank you so much.

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 11.2.2

I have found the solution to this matter.

First off, thanks for everyone for helping me out. So what i did, I contacted Itunes Support and they replied to me (surprisingly fast!) that my itunes account was linked to another itunes account and that there was still unpaid apps in that other account. So I knew it was my wife’s account since we did family sharing before. However I checked her Purchase History and there was no unpaid apps. so what i did, i clicked on the “remove” tab under “Cloud in this device” for both my itunes acc and my wifes’. Then I signed out and signed in her itunes acc then I tried update her billing info with my current BIBD account and still no luck. I thought about this for a minute to which I then realized that BIBD doesnt charge any purchase under USD1 and I realized that my wife once made a purchase of her favorite song (USD 0.69). So that might be the culprit. Knowing the issue, I contacted BIBD support centre and they suggested me to use vCard account and when I updated my billing acc with my vCard account, it worked like charm for both my wife and my itunes account. My huge thanks to itunes support for guiding me to resolve my troubles!! =D

Is there any way for us to remove the debit card? I can’t remove mine so I can’t update or download free apps. Sadly, I somehow don’t get as well as to why we can’t use debit cards.

Is this a Debit Card? If so, that’s most likely your issue. iTunes/App store no longer accept Debit cards as an acceptable form of payment, & you’re getting that error because you’ve setup your account on a new device. There is no workaround, you’re gonna have to redeem an iTunes gift card or use a credit card.

Because some issues with non-payment have occured with iTunes. You can ‘charge’ an amount to your debit card, and then remove the money from the account before the charge clears. And unless there is overdraft protection, iTunes doesn’t get their money, but you got the download.

Just buy iTunes cards with your debit card, or get a pre-paid credit card with a fixed pre-set amount. it acts like a credit car, but you load it with real money. Your ‘credit limit’ is however much you put on the card.

Aug 21, 2013 2:42 PM

Now that answers my question but what about removing my debit card? It’s conflicting with my app updates and free downloads.
